Challenge Cup Final

MOLESEY FC 1 V 4 Westside
This Cup Final was played at Sheerwater FC on the Astroturf on a lovely sunny day and in front of a good sized crowd, the largest number being devoted Molesey Supporters.
The Molesey boys appeared very nervy at the start of the match and on seven minutes Otto found himself in space in the Westside penalty box. His shot sadly hit the side netting even though a number of spectators had thought this was the first goal of the match.
The remainder of the first half saw Westside move into a commanding 2–0 lead with the goals coming from a well worked Free-kick and a ball that wasn’t cleared from the danger area. The goals were scored by Webster and Dalida.

The second half and a change in formation saw Molesey come back into the game and pull one back through Otto. With a little more luck we could have taken the lead as the Molesey lads worked hard and we managed to hit bar twice and have a couple of other clear chances.
At the final whistle Westside deservedly lifted the Cup in front of there supporters and Molesey could look back on a very long and hard but ultimately successful one. A season that we were so close in 3 competitions, missing the playoffs on goal difference, a huge 25 points improvement on last season and reaching the semi-final where we were the lowest ranked team as well we the League Cup final.

Almost everyone would have taken that at the beginning of the season so well done to Pete, his coaching staff and Physio and all the players for all the hard work on and off the pitch. You now deserve your 3 week break before it is the start of pre-season training. With the new season fast approaching we can go again and see what success and enjoyment Pete and the team can bring to what is Molesey FC
Special mention should go to are Chairlady who, this season has delivered us a great new Clubhouse. It was sad to see the old Club demolished with all those memories but hopefully, next season, we can move forward again and build new memories and gain some deserved silverware and have some more great times!
