MOLESEY 1 v 1 BELSTONE

The first ever fixture between these two Footballing Clubs was played in a good atmosphere and on a damp and slippery surface because of a pre-match heavy shower.
The game commenced with both sides tentatively pushing the ball around and trying to find a gap in each others defenses that might be able to be exploited by a quick break or a good defense splitting pass!
Very little happened in the first 30 minutes as both sides play was disrupted by an over zealous referee who tried to let the play flow, but would stop the game for the most minor of discretion and not play the advantage rule once.
In the 35th minute, Molesey ventured forwards and managed to open up the defensive play of Belstone for the ball to arrive at the feet of Tyler Hargreaves who gratefully slotted the ball past Freeman in the Belstone goal.

The Second half saw more of the same tight play between two well balanced teams that were producing a very competitive game sadly disrupted by the whistle of the referee.
To many peoples surprise Belstone were awarded a Penalty in the 50th minute, even though the Referee had to check whether the foul occurred in the Penalty area. Cobb stepped up and despite Wheller’s fine record of Penalty saves, he was helpless this time and Belstone were level.
The rest of the match passed without incident and ended in an entertaining well earned draw between these two well drilled teams.
Molesey still remain unbeaten this season, but it is very important to turn these draws into solid victories and get this season moving in the right direction!
With the support of the Molesey faithful and some of the contentious decisions go the way of Molesey, I am sure results will improve and the team will start to climb the league!
