Molesey were looking at getting back to winning ways in this league fixture against a good Windsor team that are having a good season so far!
Despite the final score line of 2 – 2 this was a well organised, tough tackling and energetic performance by Molesey that was very pleasing to see and fully deserved the favorably comments that the crowd gave them at the end of the match.
Indeed, it was a last minute equalizer by Windsor that saw this revitalized Molesey side denied a well deserved win.
The game kicked off and from the start the Molesey lads, with a couple of new faces, seemed to be playing with more accuracy in passing and more determination. The first 30 minutes clearly belonged to the Molesey lads as they played a more expansive style and displayed more attacking patterns that resulted in efforts for Binnie who blaster a shot just over the bar.
On 55 minutes and against the run of play Windsor took the lead and punished Molesey for not converting one of their chances. Kemp cut in from the left hand touchline and hit a shot that everyone thought was going over the bar, but it dipped viciously into the opposite top corner to put Windsor 0-1 up.
To the credit of the Molesey players, they didn’t stop battling and fighting for anything and over the next 20 minutes they scored two fine goals. On 65 minutes they drew level when Bouchez runs onto a loose ball and hits a crisp shot past Richards, the Windsor goalkeeper. Ten minutes later all the hard work and the great endeavours on Molesey were rewarded when Azeez Olayinka scored as he headed home from a well taken corner. This made it 2-1 to the Moles and everyone in the Ground were hoping that the team could hold on for a fully deserved victory.
As the Referees watch went into time added on Yilma, from Windsor, Cuts in from the right and from a tight angle hits the ball into the Molesey net and giving Windsor a last gasp equalizer.
Minutes later the Referee blew his whistle on what was a great game of competitive football, played by two well matched teams. If Molesey play as well as that in future matches, when the injured players come back and with stronger competition for places, then I am sure that the winning feeling will return for Pete Doherty and his Molesey Team. Well done lads!
Come on Moles!!
