Refs red card decision, cost Molesey the game

Again Molesey had some forced player changes in this Combined Counties league fixture against Sheerwater
For the 2nd week going there was a new face between the sticks and it was Jack Pearce who donned the gloves for the Moles, Sacha Mbaye was also a new face in the back 4, all be it a returning from last season.
The game was played in for what was the consecutive weeks hurricane conditions, with both teams struggling to adapt.
It was just after the half hour when the 1st real chance of the game fell to another new face of Benni Gunnlalligarson who forced the Sheerwater keeper Elgi Fegzoninto into a great 2 handed save, with what was a long range shot from the edge of the area, Elgi had played for Molesey earlier in the season During Molesey’s 2-1 win at Balham but will not want to be reminded his only appearance saw him have an early bath after being sent off.
Just when you thought that was the last of the action of the half, the ref must have remembered that an assessor was sitting in the stands, when Joe Pratley-Jones went up for a duel with the Sheerwater center forward and whilst it was probably a free kick and may be yellow card at worse, the ref produced a red card, stating Joe was the last man? If only refs would use their assistants, clues in the name!
HT 0-0
It was just 5 minutes into the 2nd half when Sheerwater took the lead after Molesey had looked to push forward, with a well worked goal.
Adam Roberts was replaced by Danny Campion after taking a knock on the 59 minute.
The extra man did not really defer Molesey to try and push for an equalizer but it was a ball over the top and a good strike from the edge of the box that gave Sheerwater a 2-0 lead
With the 1st half red card Danny Band was forced into playing center back and it was a firm challenge that if made anywhere else where on the pitch would have not resulted in his yellow card.
Lekan Osideko replaced Benni with 10 minutes to go and could have reduced the deficit to just 1 when he found himself 1 on 1 with the x Molesey keeper, who made the save with an out stretched leg.
Dre Grobler came on for Jerrel Gumbs with the last couple of minutes ticking away and had little chance to make a 2-goal game changing appearance.
Tom Windsor picked up a needless yellow card in the last minute after a routine shove on the keeper.
